A Cinephile Love Story

Engagement Photography in London, Ontario

Some couples show up with a vibe, and others bring a full-blown cinematic universe. Nikki and Isaac are the latter. These two are tying the knot this summer at 100 Acre Wood in Picton—arguably one of the dreamiest outdoor wedding venues in Ontario. But first? They wanted something different. Something playful, personal, and uniquely them for their engagement session.

We tossed around a bunch of ideas, and in the end, landed on one of London’s most iconic hidden gems: Hyland Cinema.

For anyone who knows it, this place is a treasure. It’s the kind of theatre where you fall in love with movies all over again. Indie gems, cult classics, forgotten favourites—Hyland is the kind of place that brings out the romantic in everyone. Honestly, it felt like the perfect metaphor for their relationship: thoughtful, quirky, full of nostalgia and story.

The owners were incredibly generous, giving us full access and a behind-the-scenes tour that felt like stepping into another world. Popcorn machines, projector rooms, empty theatres, old movie posters—it was a photographer’s dream and a cinephile’s fantasy.

And these two? Total naturals. They brought the energy, the laughter, and the kind of connection that makes my job stupidly easy. Every moment felt authentic. Like they belonged in that setting—and maybe in a Wes Anderson film, too.

I cannot wait for their wedding this summer. But for now, I’ll leave you with a few favourite stills from this one-of-a-kind engagement session at Hyland: lights, camera, love.

Want to plan your own unique session? Whether it’s your favourite spot, your first date location, or something totally out-of-the-box, I’m always down to brainstorm and create something that feels uniquely you.
